Welcome
Welcome to our list for the first half of 2008. Thanks as ever for your wonderful continuing and growing support.
During the past year, thanks to you, Lorenz Books has had a fantastic time, with a performance over 15.5% per cent up on the previous period. We are particularly grateful to you, our customers, who have made this happen, and of course to our fantastic team of agents, representatives and distributors all over the world, who help you.
Thanks also, of course, to the outstanding authors, photographers, editors and designers we have been lucky enough to work with, because it is the quality of the content, and the satisfaction and enjoyment of the people who buy books from us, that fuels the consumer sales that create growth for everyone.
There are 78 new titles in the new season, with highlights too numerous to mention. Special favourites among our editors are:
The Food and Cooking of Poland - a unique new guide to an intriguing culinary history with fascinating sections on traditions, ingredients and techniques, plus sensational recipes.
Practical Archaeology - the first step-by-step guide to a hugely popular area of interest, exploring the history buried beneath our everyday landscapes, cities and seashores.
A Practical Guide to Japanese Gardening - a presentation of the history, styles, and planning of Japanese gardens, including materials, decorative features, projects and planting schemes, with 700 revealing and inspiring photographs.
The Illustrated World Encyclopedia of Freshwater Fish & River Creatures â an incredible identification and reference guide, companion to the just-published volume on marine fish and sea creatures, with 600 expert watercolours.
We could also spotlight The Food and Cooking of Malaysia & Singapore; The Ancient Greek World: People and Places; The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Swords and Sabres; The Illustrated History of Knights & the Golden Age of Chivalry; and photographic practical guides to both running and cycling, for leisure, training and high-level competition racing. It is hard to single out individual books, and if space was available we would specially recommend everything.
I wish you even greater success with these new titles, and if you have comments, questions or new ideas, please don't hesitate to contact me personally, or Paul Anness on panness@anness.com.
