With the advent of affordable, good quality digital cameras and easy-to-use editing software for the home computer, digital photography has become immensely popular. However, few of us take full advantage of the fantastic range of possibilities that digital photography has to offer and it can take a little expert guidance to take really great photographs.
This clear and comprehensive guide covers everything the digital photographer needs to know in order to transform their photographs from simple snapshots to works of digital art. From megapixels to memory cards, it explains the meaning and significance of technical specifications, and advises on exactly what is needed to get started. Following this, the book reveals professional techniques of composition, balance, lighting and exposure and suggests varied assignments to practice these techniques and kick-start the creative process.
As well as showing how to make the most of a digital camera, this book also explains how to use editing software to make the most of the photographs. Whether it is a simple matter of removing red-eye or a more complicated task such as correcting perspective, a section of the book covers all the essential editing tricks in an easy-to-follow format. Also included are informative sections on creative techniques, such as creating a panorama, retouching and old photograph and enhancing skies for dramatic effect to name but a few.
The final section of this book explains everything the photographer needs to know about storing and sharing photos, from how to make the best prints to the most up-to-date methods of online storing and how to share pictures with the world via the Internet.
This book is perfect for anyone who wants to get the most out of digital photography, from the complete beginner to the more experienced photographer.
